3 Tramadol robbers caged

hree young men who robbed a trader at knifepoint at Amanfrom in the Greater Accra Region have been remanded in police custody by an Accra Circuit Court.

Alexander Amofa Donkor, student of Ideal College, Kwame Ayirebi, sprayer, and Philip Otoo aka Ewiase, mason, are alleged to have laid ambush near the Amanfrom lorry station where the woman had gone to pick a vehicle to Accra.

The three then emerged from the bush and attacked their victim with a knife and collected her handbag which contained a cash amount of GH¢2,400, a signed cheque worth GH¢1,200, her voter identification card and a calculator. After the robbery, they bolted.

At the time of their arrest, two wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, three tablets of tramadol and a knife were found on Alexander Amofa Donkor.

The suspects are before the court charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit crime, robbery and possession of narcotics.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges and the court presided over by a judge, Afi Agbanu Kudormor, remanded them in police custody to reappear on September 13, 2018.

The prosecution led by Police Inspector Samuel Ahiabor told the court that after the accused succeeded in robbing their victim, the woman ran back home to inform her husband’s brother about the incident.

The two then chased the suspected robbers and arrested Alexander Amofa Donkor at his hideout at a location near a river called Nsakyi.

Upon reaching the police station, a thorough search was conducted on him and the knife, three tablets of tramadol and the two wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were found on Alex.

The prosecutor stated that in the course of the investigation, Alexander Amofa Donkor mentioned Kwame Ayirebi and Philip Otoo as his accomplices.

He said Alexander led police to their hideout at Amanfrom and the other two suspects were arrested.
